The Must-Have Pair of Sneakers

If you’ve been following fashion trends, you know that there is a type of shoe that everyone should have to complete their wardrobe. Of course, it is a pair of sneakers, but it’s not just any pair of sneakers. It’s the must-have Adidas Stan Smith sneaker.

Adidas Stan Smith Sneaker

The first time I saw the Adidas Stan Smith sneaker was at Nordstrom last year. I thought it looked like a pair of comfortable shoes, but didn’t think about getting them. It was because I was afraid I would get them stained too easily.

It wasn’t until March of this year when I was planning for my April trip to Taipei, Taiwan, that I bought a pair of the Adidas Stan Smith sneakers.

I have to say it was definitely a great buy. For the long international flight to Taipei, I wore the new Adidas Stan Smith sneaker with my Juicy Couture velour hoodie and pants. When I was in Taipei, Taiwan, I wore the sneakers with shorts. The Adidas Stan Smith sneakers were perfect for traveling.

The Adidas Stan Smith sneakers are also great for day-to-day wear. After I came back from my trip, I wore the Adidas Stan Smith sneaker with a pair of black True Religion skinny jeans. This combination goes well with a casual top or nice sweatshirt.

Another way I like to wear the Adidas Stan Smith sneaker is with my short denim dress and green Dior Diorama wallet on chain clutch. Both the sneaker and the denim dress go well with any other cross body bags.

While I was enjoying my favorite Adidas Stan Smith sneaker, I didn’t think much about the origin of the sneakers themselves. I finally read up on the history and learned a little background of the sneakers.

The Adidas Stan Smith sneaker was named after the famous American tennis player, Stan Smith, in 1971. (The shoe tongue even has a portrait of Stan Smith.) The Adidas Stan Smith sneaker was very popular for decades, but Adidas discontinued the sneaker in 2012, then brought them back in 2014.

If you haven’t own a pair of the Adidas Stan Smith sneakers, it’s never too late to own this versatile shoes!

Fall 2016 Fashion Trend

We are in the transition of Summer to Fall.  If you are still stuck in the Summer fashion, it’s not too late to start planning your Fall staples.

Below is a quick start guide on some of the essential elements for Fall fashion and it will help you to get ready for the chilly season.

Velvet – Fabric of the Season

When we think about Fall 2016 fashion, there’s no way we can leave out velvet.  Velvet is the fabric of the season and we see it anywhere from dresses to sexy stilettos!

Military – Uniform with a Style

I am always fond of military style for fashion , especially when it comes to wool jackets for the cold seasons. If you are looking for a silhouette that will stay in style, consider a nice military style jacket in navy color. Of course, military style for this season isn’t only limited to jackets. Don’t forget to check out the new boots for the season.

Mary Jane – Casual to Elegant

Mary Jane shoes has always been one of my favorites, especially when they are decorated with glitters, like the one Saint Laurent made for Fall 2014. For this year, I noticed more Mary Jane shoes in various material. (i.e. Miu Miu’s crystal-embellished velvet pumps, and Dolce & Gabbana’s embellished suede Marry Jane pumps)

Ruffles – Girlie with a hint of Sophistication

When I was a little girl my mom liked to buy me dresses with ruffles; therefore, ruffles always remind me of my childhood days.  But ruffles are not just for little girls. For this Fall season, we see ruffles anywhere from dresses to shoes. A red dress with ruffles like the Valentino one below will definitely add some sexiness to your wardrobe.

Floral – Blossom in Every Season

Depending on where you are, you might not see many blossoming flowers in the Fall. But that doesn’t mean you can’t bring the blossom floral prints onto yourself.  This season, we see the floral elements everywhere on the runway, from floral dresses to signature handbags.

If you are still working your wardrobe for the Fall, be sure to keep the above fashion elements in mind!

Le Cirque Restaurant at Bellagio Las Vegas

I was in Las Vegas recently, staying at the Bellagio Hotel. It’s one of my top three favorite resorts in Vegas.

One night during my stay, I decided to eat at Le Cirque restaurant with a friend who had never eaten there.

Before I go on, let me say that the Bellagio, for many years, had two restaurants right next to each other — Le Cirque and Circo. Many people, including me, would confuse these two restaurants because their names were so similar (and owned by the same family).

Anyway, after 15 years, Circo closed down in late 2014 and was replaced by a new restaurant “Lago” by chef Julian Serrano. Circo was an Italian – Mediterranean style place. Le Cirque is more French inspired.

So, one evening I ate at Le Cirque with my fried. The restaurant was very fancy. The experience was every bit as excellent as the last time I was there with a gang of girlfriends, the last time I ate there.

If you’re ever in Vegas, Le Cirque at Bellagio should be on your list of places to consider if you’re in the mood for a very fancy dinner!

Spring 2016 Trip to Taipei, Taiwan

I recently returned from a two-week Spring trip to Taipei, Taiwan.  It has been over eight years since I visited Taipei.  I was very excited to see friends and family, and to eat all of the delicious food in Taiwan.

The food in Taipei was amazing.  And the time spent with friends and family was priceless.  While I was visiting Taipei, I also attended a family member’s wedding and learned how to make leather goods from scratch in my friend’s leather handbag store.

The weather in Taipei is very different than Seattle.  Taipei is warmer and more humid than Seattle.  For the trip, I packed a lot of short sleeve tops and some True Religion skinny jeans.  In case it gets chilly at night or indoor blasted with AC, I brought some cashmere cardigans with me; they are really light and easy to carry around in my bags.

Overall, my trip to Taipei was a blast.  I enjoyed every moment.  I just wish it could have lasted longer!

Sheer Panel Dresses

It seems like a recent trend is the increasing popularity of dresses that have a sheer panel.

Last season I was shopping for a new dress on the Saks web site.  I noticed an interesting Alice + Olivia’s fit and flare long dress with multiple sheer lace panels.  It came only in maroon.

I really liked it and so I bought it.

When I got the dress, to be honest, I wasn’t really sure on what type of occasions I could wear it to.  I was surprised to find that I was able to wear the dress at different events; Sinatra restaurant in Las Vegas and Saison restaurant in San Francisco.

While shopping online recently I noticed that many brands have dresses with sheer panels.  To update your closet wardrobe for Spring, you might want to check out this style!

5 Things To Try This Month – February 2016

It’s hard to believe that we are already into the second month of the year 2016.  It feels like it was just a couple of weeks ago we celebrated New Year’s Eve in Las Vegas with friends.

February is one of my favorite months.  One of the reasons is because many of my friends, my brother and I all have February birthdays.  Also, Valentine’s Day is in February.

Below are some of the things I want to do this month and I hope they will help to inspire you.

Drink the Limited-edition Nespresso Coffee

I am a big fan of Nespresso coffee.  I am always looking out for their limited-edition coffee flavors. Nespresso recently released two limited-edition coffee flavors “Tanim de Chiapas Mexico” and “Umutima wa lake Kivu Rwanda”.   Each of these coffees is packaged in a unique color design in pink or green.  I personally like both flavors, but I highly recommend the pink one.  Why? Because it’s the color of the month of Valentine’s Day!

Read the “Mindset: The New Psychology of Success” Book

I picked up this book while I visited the new Amazon bookstore in Seattle.  The book begins by discussing the two different mindsets for people; fixed vs. growth.  People with a growth mindset are more likely to succeed because of their can-do attitude.  It has been a while since I’ve read any self-help  book.  I think it would be a good start for 2016.

Try the Dior’s 5 Colors Glowing Garden Eyeshadow Palette

Although we are still months away from the Spring season, it doesn’t hurt to complete your going-out look with warm shades of this limited edition eyeshadow makeup by Dior.  They will brighten up your look instantly.

Wear the Red Dress on my Birthday

Red is one of my favorite colors, especially when it comes to clothing.  I already picked up a red dress for my birthday celebration.  The dress I got is made by A.L.C., called Aldridge Sleeveless Sheath Dress.  It also comes in black, available on Saks Fifth Avenue.

Send the Teddy Bear Heart Chocolate to Loved Ones

What’s not to love about a box filled with chocolates in a Teddy Bear Heart?  It’s cute and sweet.  It’s a great way to share love with the people you care about.

Manolo Blahnik Chaos Cuff Ankle Sandal in Purple Glitter

Manolo Blahnik has many signature pair of heels. One of them that has often been spotted on many celebrities (i.e. Pop Star, Rhianne) is the Chaos Cuff Ankle Sandal.

Manolo Blahnik’s Chaos Cuff Ankle Sandal comes in various colors (i.e. black, red, and blue) and in various materials (i.e. patent leather, suede, and snakeskin). The design of the stiletto is surprisingly light and comfortable to walk for a short period of time.

For my recent New Year’s Eve trip to Las Vegas I bought a pair of the Manolo Blahnik’s Chaos Cuff Ankle Sandal in purple glitter.  I wore it with an Alice + Olivia’s McKee Sequined Jersey Dress on the New Year’s Eve.  A neutral black sandal normally would work well with an embellished and sparkling dress, but I think the glittering purple Manolo Blahnik Chaos Cuff Sandal works the best for such special occasion!

If you haven’t tried Manolo Blahnik’s Chaos Cuff Sandal, you might want to consider getting it for the upcoming Spring season!

New Year’s Eve Celebration in Las Vegas

I’ve been to Vegas many times, but never during the New Year’s Eve. To celebrate the New Year’s Eve for 2016, my friend and I went to Vegas! This Vegas trip is unlike most of the trips I’ve had to Vegas. There were no set plans. My friend and I wanted to take it easy and play everything by ear.

Happy New Year!

My friends and I stayed at the Aria Hotel. Aria Hotel is one of my favorite hotels in Las Vegas. (Their Sky Suite is one of my top three choices on the Strip, after Wynn/Encore Tower Suites and Skyloft at MGM Grand.) There are many nice restaurants in the Aria Hotel. I feel like I can eat different cuisines without having to step out of the hotel property. Aria Hotel Lobby Shopping The Vegas Strip was crowded with people around the New Year’s Eve period. Most of the retail stores (such as the ones in the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace) were packed every day, especially on New Year’s Eve day. One might wonder why people want to shop during the busiest season after Christmas. The answer is simple, there were sales everywhere. The discounts ranged between 30% to 60%. For example, Salvatore Ferragamo offered a 30% discount, Christian Louboutin offered 40%, and Red Valentino offered 60% discount, etc. It’s hard to say “No” when pretty things are on sale! If you don’t have the actual boutique store in your resident state, you can avoid the tax by asking them to ship to your home. Some retail stores might charge you shipping cost, but most of the time the amount you saved from paying the tax exceeds the shipping charges. Aria Hotel in Las Vegas Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden Bellagio is one of my favorite hotels. Their Conservatory & Botanical Garden attracts a lot of people throughout the year. For the 2015 holiday season, Bellagio displayed a Christmas theme with a huge Christmas tree, polar bears, penguins, and snow globes, etc. I noticed the Conservatory & Botanical Garden was more crowded than usual. It was hard to take a picture of the display without running into someone with a selfie stick! Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden Eating in the Fancy Restaurants One thing I always look forward to is eating at the nice restaurants in the hotels in Vegas. I know that off the Strip there are many special restaurants that have lower prices, but the experience wouldn’t be the same as in the nice hotels. My all-time top ten restaurants on the Strip include Sinatra at Encore Hotel, Prime Steak and Michael Mina at Bellagio, Joel Robuchon at MGM Grand. A new favorite restaurant is also by Michael Mina, called Bardot Brasserie (French Cuisine), inside of the Aria Hotel. I had dinner there in September 2015 and liked it a lot. It’s the only restaurant that offers brunch in the Aria Hotel, but it only serves brunch on the weekends. In Front of Bardot Brasserie Restaurant On New Year’s Eve, my friends and I had dinner at Hakkasan in the MGM Grand Hotel. We had a multiple course dinner with wine paring. It was a great way to end Year 2015. To sum up, spending the New Year’s Eve in Vegas is fun, even if you are not into gambling or partying. There are plenty of things to do!

Yves Salomon Ombre Fur Asymmetric Vest in Navy

Before the Thanksgiving Holiday, a friend of mine told me about a special promotion that was going on at the Intermix  store.  Intermix is a fashion retailer sells trendy items from various brands.  They had a “buy three full-price items for 30% discount” promotion before the holiday.  I couldn’t resist the temptation, so I gave in.

One of the items I bought during the promotion period was Yves Salomon Ombre Fur Asymmetric Vest in Navy.  The color is very dark; it looks almost like black.  And the texture of the vest is so soft.  It was surprisingly warmer than I expected.

This Yves Salomon Ombre Fur Asymmetric Vest is very versatile and classic.  I can wear it with a long sleeve knit t-shirt, a pair of skinny jeans, and high heel pump.  Or I can wear it with a long turtleneck sweater, legging, and a pair of stylish boots.

No matter which clothing items I go with this asymmetric vest, I know it will look great with my favorite red Louis Vuitton Alma PM handbag.
