After waiting for weeks, the Chanel Holiday 2012 makeup collection (limited-edition) finally arrived! As usual, the yearly holiday collection includes sparkling facial powder, eyeshadows, and blush, which are the must-have for me!
I’ve been collecting Chanel’s holiday shimmering powder for many years. This year Chanel offers the natural finish loose powder in “57 Reverie”. The difference between this and the regular loose powder is that it has sparkling elements. Last year’s limited-edition loose powder was in“47 Feerie”, which has similar sparkling elements complemented with a peachier shade of loose facial powder. It gives the face a subtle pink hue, whereas “57 Reverie” gives a more natural skin color look. Both “57 Reverie” and “47 Feerie” are equally gorgeous. However, if you are not a makeup enthusiast (like me) you don’t really need to get both. They are very similar, so save your money for something else!
The limited-edition sparkling powder is not designed to apply all over the face. It is intended to go on areas where you want to highlight, such as cheeks, neck, décolletage, and maybe forehead. It provides a sheer and matte finish on your face, and helps to set your makeup and add some glow.
Along with the sparkling facial powder, I also bought Chanel’s holiday eyeshadow palette (in Du Soir shade), long wear luminous eyeshadow (in Apparence shade) and blush (in Star Dust shade). These items are designed to complement for this holiday with gold and light simmers.
Chanel also introduces a new mascara in limited quantity, called La Volumn De Chanel (in black). It’s designed to add volume and provide intense color with each stroke, using its new “snowflake” brush. I just ordered one from Neiman Marcus and I am looking forward to try it and see how good it is.
